Learning objectives:

— Understand the key principles of restoratively driven implant planning and how these influence implant position, emergence profile and long-term restorative success.
— Interpret CBCT scans and integrate radiographic findings into the digital planning process.
— Utilise digital planning software to plan implant placement safely and predictably while considering anatomical, surgical and restorative factors.
— Identify suitable cases for guided surgery and recognise situations where guided surgery may not be appropriate.
— Understand the principles of surgical guide design, manufacture and verification, including common sources of inaccuracy and how to avoid them.
— Implement practical digital workflows that improve efficiency, reduce surgical stress and increase confidence during implant placement.
— Recognise the most common planning and surgical mistakes encountered in implant dentistry and understand practical strategies to prevent and manage them.
— Learn from real-world complications, errors and lessons encountered throughout the speaker's own implant journey, gaining insights that are rarely discussed in traditional implant education.
— Develop confidence in managing the everyday questions and uncertainties that many implant clinicians experience but are often reluctant to ask.
— Participate in collaborative case discussions, allowing delegates to share experiences, discuss challenging cases and gain feedback from both peers and the lecturer.
— Understand how guided surgery can be utilised in more advanced workflows, including immediate placement, immediate restoration and full-arch rehabilitation.
— Develop a repeatable planning protocol that can be implemented immediately in practice to improve predictability, efficiency and patient outcomes.

Dr. Mathew McPhee

Mathew McPhee, BDS, MSc (Dental Implantology) graduated from the University of Dundee in 2016 and is the owner of Airdrie Dental Care, a leading implant referral centre in Scotland. He has focused exclusively on implant dentistry since 2022, with a special interest in digital workflows, guided surgery, immediate loading and full-arch rehabilitation. Mat holds a Postgraduate Certificate and a Master of Science in Dental Implantology from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid. Passionate about digital dentistry, he designs and 3D prints his own surgical guides and utilises fully guided workflows to deliver predictable, restoratively driven implant treatment. He is also a Vocational Trainer, mentoring the next generation of implant dentists.
