Course Synopsis

Molar sites present some of the most common yet technically demanding scenarios in implant dentistry — thin ridges, reduced bone height, and thin gingival biotypes that put implants at ongoing risk of crestal bone loss and peri-implantitis. This course introduces BD Cuff®, MegaGen's soft-tissue-focused solution purpose-built for compromised molar defects. Combining the proven BD X-FIT® connection with the innovative ARi stability concept, BD Cuff® uses a deliberate soft tissue cuff design to protect the implant–tissue interface from the outset. The day covers the biological rationale behind soft tissue management at molar sites, case selection and implant sizing logic, and a streamlined one-stage surgical protocol — giving delegates a practical, teachable system for one of the most complication-prone areas in implant practice.

The course aims to:

Introduce delegates to the biological rationale behind soft tissue cuff design and its role in preventing crestal bone loss and peri-implantitis at molar sites
Provide a thorough understanding of the BD Cuff® system's design features and how they address thin ridge, low bone height, and thin gingiva presentations
Develop delegates' practical competence in BD Cuff® case selection, sizing logic, and surgical protocol
Enable confident, evidence-based treatment planning for compromised molar sites without over-reliance on extensive grafting
Foster awareness of complication prevention and management specific to soft tissue-implant interface issues.

Objectives:

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

- Explain the biological rationale for soft tissue cuff management at molar implant sites
- Describe how the BD Cuff® design — including the soft tissue cuff, BD X-FIT® connection, and ARi-derived stability features — reduces peri-implantitis and crestal bone loss risk
- Assess bone height, gingival thickness, and defect type to determine appropriate cuff height and implant diameter
- Apply the correct drilling sequence and insertion torque protocol for safe, effective BD Cuff® placement
- Identify clinical scenarios suited to epicrestal versus subcrestal placement, or soft tissue augmentation
- Recognise how BD Cuff® reduces reliance on extensive grafting while maintaining long-term aesthetic and functional outcomes
- Manage thin-gingiva and thin-ridge complications proactively rather than reactively
